Bringing Cre8 Dance Academy to life is more than opening a dance studio—it is the realization of a lifelong dream. Dance has never simply been something Melissa does; it is who she is. The performing arts have shaped every chapter of her life, and from the moment she stepped into a dance class as a young child, she knew this was her calling. She continues to approach her career as both an educator and lifelong student, constantly evolving, learning, and striving to provide the very best for every dancer who walks through the studio doors.
While Melissa’s professional career has taken her across stages, studios, classrooms, and judging panels, her greatest role is being a mother. As a proud mom of four children, including two competitive dancers, she understands firsthand the sacrifices, financial investment, scheduling demands, and emotional commitment that families make to support their children’s passions. She knows what it feels like to trust another educator with your child’s growth, confidence, and well-being—and she never takes that responsibility lightly.
It was through both her professional experience and her perspective as a parent that Melissa began to recognize the areas where the dance industry could do better. She witnessed incredible talent, but she also saw unnecessary pressure, burnout, poor communication, and environments where dancers and families often felt overlooked or unheard. She believed there had to be another way.
That belief became Cre8 Dance Academy.
Cre8 was built with intention—a place where excellence and kindness exist together. A place where dancers are challenged without losing their love of dance, where families feel welcomed, informed, and valued, and where every child is truly seen for who they are, not simply for what they achieve. Whether a dancer is stepping into the studio for the very first time or pursuing competitive goals, every journey is equally important and worthy of celebration.
Melissa’s vision reaches far beyond creating successful dancers. She is passionate about developing confident, resilient, compassionate young people who carry the lessons learned in the studio into every aspect of their lives. She believes dance should inspire creativity, nurture character, build lifelong friendships, and become a place where children feel safe to dream boldly and express themselves authentically.
At the heart of Cre8 Dance Academy is one simple promise: every decision is made with students and families in mind. From the atmosphere within the studio to the quality of education, communication, scheduling, and programming, every detail has been thoughtfully designed to create an experience that feels supportive, balanced, and inspiring.
Melissa believes that dance has the power to change lives—not just through technique and performance, but through the confidence, discipline, joy, and community it creates. She feels incredibly honoured to share that journey with every family who chooses Cre8 and looks forward to building something truly special together.

Melissa is an award-winning choreographer, educator, adjudicator, and former Competitive Director with decades of experience inspiring dancers to pursue artistry with excellence, integrity, and heart. Widely recognized for her innovative choreography and emotionally compelling storytelling, Melissa has received numerous Best Overall Choreographer awards at both regional and national competitions throughout her career. Her work has also earned countless highest overall scores, teacher recognition awards, and critical acclaim for its creativity, musicality, and artistic vision.
Highly sought after for her expertise in Contemporary, Lyrical, and Open choreography, Melissa is known for creating meaningful, technically challenging, and emotionally authentic work that resonates with both audiences and adjudicators. She believes great choreography is about more than movement—it is about cultivating artists who dance with purpose, vulnerability, and intention.
Melissa’s extensive experience spans every facet of the dance industry. She spent more than a decade serving as a Competitive Director, mentoring hundreds of dancers while building successful competitive programs grounded in excellence and positive studio culture. She is a proud member of the Professional Adjudicators Alliance, has traveled extensively as a dance adjudicator, and has shared her expertise as a faculty member at Sheridan College. These diverse experiences have given her a unique perspective that allows her to support dancers, teachers, and families with both knowledge and compassion.
Her own training began at the age of five and expanded beyond dance into professional musical theatre, acting, and vocal performance. After being awarded the prestigious National Scholarship Award as the sole recipient to attend the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City, Melissa spent three years living and training in New York while developing her career as a professional performer.
Throughout her performance career, Melissa has appeared on stages across Hamilton, Burlington, Toronto, New York City, Los Angeles, and internationally aboard cruise ship productions. Some of her favourite theatrical credits include Millie in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Queenie in The Wild Party, Shirley Temple in A Day in Hollywood, The Narrator in A Christmas Carol, Sue in Rock Around the Clock, Tzeitel in Fiddler on the Roof, and Principal Dancer in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. She also spent a summer performing as a principal dancer and singer at Lake Compounce Theme Park in Connecticut and appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Network television series Cold Blood as principal character Tamara Tadum.
Melissa is deeply committed to lifelong learning and believes exceptional teaching begins with continued education. She has trained extensively with many of the industry’s most influential artists, including Mia Michaels, Tyce Diorio, Desmond Richardson, Tessandra Chavez, Wade Robson, Brian Friedman, and numerous other internationally respected educators. Their mentorship has helped shape her artistic voice while reinforcing her commitment to technical excellence, innovation, and authentic performance.
Drawing from her extensive background in acting and performance, Melissa helps dancers discover honest emotional connection and compelling stage presence. She encourages students to look beyond technique, guiding them to become thoughtful, expressive artists who understand the story behind every movement. Her classes challenge dancers to push beyond their comfort zones while building confidence, resilience, and a genuine love for the creative process.
Above all, Melissa is passionate about creating safe, positive, and inspiring environments where every dancer feels seen, valued, and supported. She believes exceptional dance education extends far beyond competition results—it is about building confident young people, nurturing creativity, and developing life skills that last long after the final bow.
Melissa’s greatest joy is watching her students grow into not only exceptional dancers, but kind, resilient, and authentic individuals. She is honoured to be part of each dancer’s journey and remains committed to helping the next generation discover the confidence to create, perform, and lead with heart.
